MANAGER AURORA SCHOOL EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAM
Aurora School is a unique Department of Education and Early Childhood Development school which specializes in Early Intervention and Early Education Programs for young deaf children.
The Early Intervention Program is a bilingual, statewide, home visiting program for young deaf children and their families. It is provided prior to school entry by teachers of the deaf, educational psychologists, social workers, speech and language therapists, and deaf educators. The bilingual program encourages young deaf children to acquire early communication and language through the development of listening skills, spoken language and Auslan. (Australian Sign Language)

Title and classification: Manager-Early Intervention ES 2.5 or Assistant Principal

This position.
Under the direction of the Principal, the successful applicant will be responsible for the management and leadership of an effective statewide Early Intervention Program for young deaf children and their families.
The program is provided in family homes and in a number of community group programs by Teachers of the Deaf, Psychologists, Speech Pathologist, Social Workers and Deaf Educators.
The position is based at Blackburn. A second office and West Team is situated in Sunshine.
Country travel will be involved. Accordingly, the successful applicant should hold a current Victorian motor vehicle driver?s license, a fully comprehensively insured motor vehicle and be prepared to use that vehicle as required. At times, overnight stays may be required. Personal expenses and ATO mileage rates are payable.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a very motivated and committed team. The successful applicant will be required to undergo a Working with Children Check, sign an employment letter and a Pre-Employment Health Declaration.

ROLE:
Under the direction of the Principal, the Manager will:
- Provide leadership and management of the statewide Aurora School Early Intervention Program for young deaf children and their families.
- Manage the induction, training and staff development opportunities for all staff in the program
- Manage the referrals and oversee the enrolment process.
- Contribute to the development of Auslan and deaf cultural awareness within the strategic plan.
- Promote Aurora School and the Early Intervention program to families and the broader community
- Other duties as directed by the Principal
- Oversee the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the Early Intervention Program
- Collaborate with Team Leaders in developing? policy, family programs and processes
- Contribute to the overall management of the school including involvement in policy formulation and decision making and membership of the school management and leadership teams.
- Manage staff appraisal of EI staff through the Performance and Development Program
- Provide support to staff and foster a collaborative work environment
- Manage the annual review of the service at the end of each year
- Manage Early Intervention staff travel claims, time sheets, leave arrangements and holiday rosters

Mandatory
Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychologists Registration Board or Registration as a Social Worker or Appropriate teaching qualifications acceptable for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teachers or an approved qualification in speech pathology and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
