An 18-year-old Jackson Township man is in custody, charged with robbing a Cleona Chinese-food restaurant at gunpoint on Tuesday.

And police believe he may be responsible for other holdups recently in Lebanon County.

Richard C. Clark, 18, of 500 Houtztown Road, Trailer 43, was arrested after a traffic stop Wednesday night in North Cornwall Township. Clark eventually admitted to involvement in the armed robbery at China Moon in the Cleona Square shopping center Tuesday night, police said.

He was charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy and possession of instruments of crime, police said, and was being held in at Lebanon County Central Booking on Thursday in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The saga began during the day on Monday when a home at 1300 Birch Road in South Lebanon Township was entered. A gun safe was pried open, and six "long" guns and a handgun were stolen, police said.

An investigation revealed there was a high likelihood that the handgun taken from the home was being used in a series of robberies that have occurred throughout Lebanon County,

police said.

There have been 15 reported robberies at businesses and banks in the county since Jan. 13. Police had filed charges in four of them prior to Clark's arrest.

"Several suspects were identified and passive surveillance was initiated by several police departments," according to a news release issued Thursday by the South Lebanon Township police.

A multijurisdictional investigation revealed that a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck was used during several of the robberies. A truck matching the description driven by Clark was stopped about 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of Royal Road in North Cornwall Township.

During a subsequent investigation, all the firearms stolen during the burglary on Birch Road were recovered, police said.

Additional charges against Clark are pending, police said.
